Elementary Level Teachers:

Megan Deyen: Johnston Elementary Teacher: Megan is an elementary teacher at Johnston schools. She will share how she implemented the flipped blended learning model in a fourth grade math classroom (she is currently a kindergarten teacher).

Brianne Barr: Davenport Elementary  Teacher Brianna is a 4th grade teacher and technology integration model teacher who is implementing the blended learning model: station rotation.  

Thomas Griffin: Johnston HS Social Studies Teacher: Thomas is a high school Instructional Coach and Social Studies teacher at Johnston Schools in Johnston, IA. Thomas has blended his classroom for several years. At Johnston juniors and seniors have open campus and the blended classroom makes use of this by having days where students are not in the classroom with the teacher, but doing their work in the online portal. He will share why he went this route, the benefits for students, how he scaffolds his students to learn this way, what parents and students are saying and where his students go when they are not in the classroom..

Elizabeth Whitver: Webster Elementary Urbandale Schools: Elizabeth is a 3rd grade teacher at Webster Elementary in  Urbandale, Iowa Elizabeth will share how she blended and flipped instructions with her 3rd graders.

Shari Shaw and Brian Baker - Indianola Elementary TAG Teachers : Shari and Brian are the Gifted and Talented teachers for four Elementary Schools at Indianola CSD in Indianola, Iowa. Hear from Shari and Brian as they talk about how they use flipped learning to extend their time with their gifted and talented students.

Alissa Sheldon 3rd Grade- Woodland Hills Elementary Waukee: Alissa Sheldon is a 3rd grade teacher at Woodland Hills Elementary School in Waukee Iowa. Alissa taught her 3rd grade students totally online for the 2020-21 school year. Hear how she worked to make connections with students and families and how her students blossomed.

Troy Staudt: Technology Teacher Gilbert Middle School:Troy is a middle school technology teacher at Gilbert Middle School in Gilbert, IA . He talks about his blended learning classrooms. Troy will share why he went this route, what the benefits for students were, and his suggestions to teachers trying this for the first time. 

 

John Newman  8th Science Teacher Fort Dodge Middle School: John is a middle school science teacher at Fort Dodge Middle School in Fort Dodge, IA. He talks about his blended learning classrooms. He will share why he went this route as well as the benefits for students and teachers (especially during the pandemic).

Doug Moosengren: Van Buren HS Science Teacher: Doug is a high school science teacher at Van Buren Schools in Keosauqua, IA . He shares his blended learning journey. . Doug will share why he went this route, what the benefits for students were, his expectations and future changes to his classroom. Doug routinely surveys his students to hear from them.

Jessica Dowell: Johnston HS Social Studies Teacher: Jessica is a high school Social Studies teacher at Johnston Schools in Johnston, IA.  She will share why she went this route as well as the benefits for students and teachers.  Jessica will talk about how this allowed her to differentiate for her students. At the end of the video there is a student examples of work.

Jill Oliver: Indianola School HS Math Teacher: Jill is a high school math teacher at Indianola School in Indianola, IA. She will share how she uses station rotation to put the learning back in the hands of the students.  She has students self-assessing their learning all the time to determine what they know, what they don't know and what to do about it. Jill will talk about how she created a more student engaged and empowered classroom.

Joshua Oberg: Clear Creek Amana HS Math Teacher: Josh is a High School Mathematics teacher at Clear Creek Amana High School in Tiffin, Iowa. He will share how he blends and personalizes his math classroom. He explains how he uses his online instruction to help students be successful self learners using the concepts of the Iowa Core and 21st Century Skills.  Josh has graciously agreed to allow Iowa teachers to look at a current copy of his math course work in Schoology.  You can access through Schoology with the code 7FKJ-SQVQ-G9JDK

Samantha Godwin: Van Buren HS Agriculture Teacher:  Samantha teaches dual enrollment AG classes with their community college, Introduction to Ag, Plant Science, Animal Science, 7th and 8th grade Ag, Ag Business, Ag Leadership, Vet Science, and Soil Science. She has found that blended learning helps her and her students keep all of the course work together.  Samantha will share why she went this route, what the benefits for students were, her expectations and future changes to her classroom.

Kim Grissom: Indianola HS Teacher:  Kim is an instructional coach who supports blended instruction at the high school.  

Zack Kaczmarek: Indianola HS Social Studies Teacher:  Zack Kaczmarek is a  high school social studies and Sociology teacher at Indianola Schools in Indianola, IA. He will talk about his blended learning classrooms. Zack will share why he went this route, what the benefits for students were, his expectations and future changes to his classroom.

Kyla Burns: Johnston HS  Science Teacher: Kyla Burns is a high school AP Environmental, Zoology, and Biology teacher at Johnston High School in Johnston, Iowa. She will share how she is blending her classroom.  She explains how she uses her online instruction helps her students when they need help they have a place they can go for support, it frees up student and teacher time and assists those that are absent. Johnston uses Virtual Sub time when teachers are absent and Kyla talks about how learning more about how to blend her classroom supported her work for students when she is gone using the Virtual Sub.

Mindy Percy: Indianola HS Math Teacher: Mindy Percy is a high school math teacher at Indianola High School in Indianola Iowa. She will talk about how she flipped her math class to increase collaboration and math conversations.  Student are able to learn at their pace in her classroom.  Flipping has given the responsibility back to the student.

Paul Mugan: Waverly- Shellrock High School science teacher: Paul is a High School Science teachers at Waverly-Shellrock High School in Waverly, Iowa. He will  share his journey into blending his science classroom. He explains how he uses his online instruction to help students be successful self learners and connects any adult in his classroom to help his students. He will share some ideas for teachers trying out blended learning and share what this does for his students and their futures.

Jessica Hazelton: Indianola HS Special Education Teacher: Jessica is a High School Special Education teacher at Indianola High School in Indianola, Iowa. She will talk about how she blends and flips her special education classroom.  She explains how she uses her online instruction to help her students and other teachers who are teaching similar content. She also creates content in AEA Learning Online's  Student Personalized Learning Center to support students in credit recovery and anytime/anywhere self paced learning.
